Modified TCP Congestion Control Algorithm for Throughput Enhancement in Wired-cum-Wireless Networks

چکیده
The key idea proposed in this paper is to determine the Optimal Congestion Window for a TCP Sender in a particular network scenario (that corresponds to the fair share of that connection) and keep this congestion window a constant to a point where the fair share in the network has changed considerably from the instance of the calculation of the size of the last window. At this point, the TCP Congestion Window is recalculated according to the nature of new scenario. The proposed mechanism is particularly effective over wireless links, which have an inherently loss-prone nature, as Modified TCP’s congestion window being independent of packet losses (be it corruption losses or it congestion losses), keeps transmitting at the same rate as before.

Enhancement of TCP over wired/wireless networks with packet loss classifiers inferred by supervised learning
TCP is suboptimal in heterogeneous wired/wireless networks because it reacts in the same way to losses due to congestion and losses due to link errors. In this paper, we propose to improve TCP performance in wired/wireless networks by endowing it with a classifier that can distinguish packet loss causes. In contrast to other proposals we do not change TCP’s congestion control nor TCP’s error re...
متن کاملPerformance Enhancement of Transmission Control Protocol over Wireless Ad-hoc Networks
Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) is a multihop wireless network in which any node can connect to any other node other node without a centralized infrastructure. The nodes participating in a MANET operate both as hosts and as routers. TCP is mainly developed for wired networks and it is required to adapt the famous protocol to work perfectly in wireless networks.TCP implements both flow control and...
متن کاملEnhancement of Tcp Performance with the Help of Snoop Protocol in Wired Cum Wireless Network
The TCP networks have been the only communication for wired media that followed IEEE 802.3 networks. This paper attempts to provide a comprehensive overview of this Link Layer approach i.e. Snoop protocol that improving throughput of TCP in wireless networks. It first explains the role of Snoop protocol that overcomes the limitations of TCP protocols in wireless media. We investigated the appli...
متن کاملA Cross-Layer Packet Loss Identification Scheme to Improve TCP Veno Performance
In wired-cum-wireless networks, one of the main design challenges for TCP is to accurately distinguish congestion losses from random losses caused due to channel noise and interference. TCP Veno has been widely deployed in wireless networks to address this challenge. TCP Veno has been demonstrated to show better performance than TCP Reno in wired-cum-wireless environments. However, TCP Veno doe...
